Heavily recommended!

I hiked along Hadrian's Wall with my wife, and amongst six B&B's along the route, this one was outstanding! A whole flat with a lot of space, a kitchen integrated, very comfortable, modern, new. Friendly hosts, clean rooms, and all this within a fair and beautiful scenery. I would definitely recommend to stay at this place!
Great relaxing cottage
Christopher Rand

Cottage was great, loads of room to relax, clean, comfortable beds, good shower. Plenty of food and drink.
Only downside was the signing, luckily I had checked this out before arriving.

Definitely recommended
Cracking way to end C2C ride
Pete & Tim

We'd just finished the C2C in two days, so were pretty weary when we pitched up at Hadrian's Barn.

We did had some problems finding it - maybe due to the rain, or our tiredness - so we didn't see any signs. Had to ask in the village, then ring their mobile. But all was excellent when we found it.

Andrew and Lesley were the perfect hosts. Andrew made sure our bikes were safely moved into a locked shed. And Lesley directed us to The Swan, with top beer and food and friendly locals to chat with.

Really impressed with the accommodation. Very comfy, very quiet, with a big breakfast in the morning, and their frisbee-mad dog to muck about with before we left (in a car this time, back to Carlisle...).

Would defintely recommend it!

NB: Be aware that we had to make payment with cash - its not possible to pay by debit card...

fantastic place to stay
Sian and Phil

We booked Hadrians Barn for a mid week stay to attend a wedding at Close House Hotel. What a great idea and a home from home setting! All of our friends staying in a hotel near Newcastle were very jealous. Everything has been thought of to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. Lesley (and her dad) were so friendly and helpful and we were even offered a lift to the hotel, which was very kind. We didnt realise that there are 2 buildings that you can stay in, useful if you are with friends or have a larger family. If we visit the area again, we will definitely return. Thanks also for the cookies.... a great midnight snack after we got back from the wedding!
A stylish & comfortable place to stay
The Campbell Family

As we were visiting this beautiful area for a sad occasion (a family funeral), this lovely self-catered B&B was a wonderful place to come back to. Stylishly decorated, immaculately clean, cosy (with easily controllable thermostat), Wifi, comfy beds and breakfast when we wanted: everything we needed and more. Lesley very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. Highly recommended. Thank you.
Lovely accommodation
John and Elizabeth

We loved the standard of fittings and furnishings
We didn't spot the dressing robes but the towels were great
The DIY catering was good in that we weren't tied to meal times
The food was excellent
We didn't pick up on the self catering idea from the web site
The setting was so peaceful once we had spotted the over-grown signs!
The welcome was marvellous and we felt that had we wanted any advice Leslie would have been glad to help

Lovely weekend
Clare and Andy

We stayed at Hadrian's Barn as we were going to a friend's wedding at Matfen Hall and wanted a change from staying in a city. Brilliant place to stay if you want to enjoy a lie in and a breakfast cooked at your own leisurely pace. Loved the fact that it was detached and totally private. Heard owls hooting in the trees at night too! Would definitely return if we are up this way again. Thanks for the lift back to our car at Matfen Hall - much appreciated.

We were attending a wedding at Close House Hotel (who may I add wanted ridiculous amounts of money to stay there!!). Chose Hadrian's Barn instead as it looked really nice on the website and excellent value for money.....and guess what it was :-) We were greeted very warmly by Lesley. Breakfast food was plentiful (especially as my husband has such a big appetite), and it was nice having our breakfasts when we wanted them (the cookies were a great midnight feast after the wedding, or shall I say drinking..Lol). Would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone. P.s. Thanks to Andrew for his prompt replies and organisation.
Good luck with your future plans.
A warm welcome!

We stayed at Hadrian's Barn for one night on our Wall walk. They thought of everything. All the ingredients for a full breakfast, pastries, snacks and even a few bottles of beer to help a weary walker! Lovely clean accommodation too. Thank you for a wonderful nights sleep. We would love to return. I would recommend a sign at the end of entrance road though. We ended up going past twice before taking that road up to you!
Superb

:) We stayed for 1 night after a wedding reception at Close House and were delighted with everything about Hadrian's Barn. The accommodation, location and friendliness of Andrew and Lesley made it the ideal choice.

Stayed at Hadrian's Barn the night before a wedding. We thought we'd been hard done by because we couldn't get into the wedding hotel. How wrong were we! The accommodation was excellent. Spacious, comfortable, clean and relaxing. The welcome couldn't have been more fitting. We were told all we needed and had a lovely chat and then were left to our own devices - just what we needed after a long drive. The next morning was just as good. No rushing to be there for breakfast between set times or having to make polite talk before coffee made just as we like it. Views to die for and relaxing comfort - what more could one ask for? I'm sure we'll be back. Can't recommend the place - or the hosts - highly enough. Thank you. :grin

Brilliant wedding night stay :)
Lindsey and David

We stayed at the barn on our wedding night and it was the perfect end to a perfect day! The barn is spacious and modern and we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and congratulations from Andrew (even though it was after 1am!).
The breakfast left for us was lovely, it was so nice to be able to make our own whenever we liked :)
Andrew and Lesley were really accommodating and allowed us to have a later check out, which was much appreciated due to our late arrival the night before!
Our stay was lovely and we would definitely come back, thank you!

Thank you for providing such lovely accommodation at Hadrian's Barn on Monday 25 April. We walked from Carlisle to Newcastle so you were the last night's stay on our Hadrian's Wall walk. The barn is a fantastic space and to find a cold beer and game of Scrabble was really the perfect end to our day. Being able to cook our own breakfast the next day too was perfect. Thank you. Would highly recommend you to others.

What amazing accommodation. Far exceeded my expectations in every respect.
We arranged to visit Newcastle for a Hen Weekend.

When we were initially looking for Accommodation we hoped to stay in Newcastle Town Centre as we had planned to go to a few bars and clubs to celebrate, however there weren’t any hotels available. We then found Hadrians Barn on Late Rooms – which was a lot cheaper than the hotels we had initially hoped to stay in.
In hindsight we are very pleased that we didn’t stay in the actual town centre as we had the best of both worlds. The Barn was in an idyllic location but was only a 10 – 15min cab ride into the town centre (which cost £15.00-£20.00).
Upon arrival at the Barn we were greeted by Lesley – who was absolutely lovely.
We were all very impressed with the standard of the accommodation – it was incredibly Clean and Spacious, with a lovely homely feeling. It had all the mod cons including Sky TV, an I pod dock and even electric blinds on the Sky Lights. The bathroom was also very nice, with a large modern shower. The two single beds and the double sofa bed were comfy and had lo...

we've just got back from staying at the barn and it was fantastic, one of the best places we've stayed in. Very clean and comfortable and the cook you own breakfast was amazing. Lesley and Andrew are wonderful and helpful people. we are thinking of coming back again as a regular thing.
Would recommend again without doubt.

We recently had a 2 night stay in this charming little hide away owned by a lovely laid back couple Andrew and Lesley.
The barn has all you need for a comfortable stay, Bright airy rooms lovely beds, a nice shower room, good size dining table, and comfy sofa settee, wall mounted tv, plenty of food and a few lagers in the fridge! If you're looking for a place to chill out after walking or a few quiet days de-stressing then look no further this is just what you need. A short walk down into the village of Heddon for a couple of pubs and the shop, or a bus stop to get you into Newcastle. We would recomend this place, and certainly stay here again.

My husband, sisters and I really enjoyed our brief stay at Hadrian's Barn. The accommodation was fine for the four of us; the sofa bed comfortable and the facilities great. Lesley and Andrew collected us form Wylam which was very thoughtful of them and then delivered us safely to our cousin's 25th Wedding anniversary party at Close House. It was such a pity it was so wet on the Sunday as it would have been an ideal place from which to explore the countryside.

We stayed for 4 nights, wish it was longer. Comfortable stylish hideaway, well-placed for visiting surrounding countryside or towns. The "cook-it-yourself" breakfast suited us perfectly, no alarm clock needed! Hope to return soon. :)

We stayed here while walking the wall on our way to Newcastle. The accommodation was excellent, beautifully decorated with high quality fittings and a well stocked fridge. There is a good pub close by serving evening meals. The barn was an ideal location for walking Hadrian's Wall and Lesley and Andrew are very friendly hosts.
Just Perfect!
The Sanders Family

We used the cottage for a long weekend whilst attending a wedding at the nearby Close House Hotel. Andrew and Leslie made our stay most enjoyable, the cottage is beautifully funished and was perfect for our family of 4. Thank you Andrew and Leslie for your warm welcome and generous hospitality - happy to recommend. Steve and family
Beautiful Place to stay
Neil and Tracy Boulton

We stayed here as part of our walk across Hadrians Wall. The accomodation was delightful and spotless and very well thought out - Lesly had stocked the fridge with lots of goodies for breakfast and even some beers. We ate an evening meal at The Swan in Heddon( a five minute Walk ) , Lesley recommeded The Swan and the meal was great. All in all a wonderful place to stay - we wish we could have stayed longer than one night and would definately stay here again. Some toiletries in the shower room would have been a nice touch but not a grumble. Thanks for a lovely stay

We had a fantastic 3 night stay. The best of both worlds, a self contained house but with B&B. Excellent for teenagers as no alarm bell for breakfast. Andrew and Lesley had more than adequately filled the fridge with goodies, not to mention the cookies and raisin whirls! Well located for exploring Northumberland. We would thoroughly recommend it for a one night or longer stay. :)

We stayed at The barn after searching the web for a place to stay as we had a wedding at The Close Hotel in Heddon. The barn is just a perfect place to retreat to for relaxation and tranquillity, just wonderful after a hectic day. The accommodation was comfortable and immaculate through out. Leslie and Andrew have thought of everything a person could need for a lovely stay, and we will be back and thoroughly recommending this to our friends as well. Thank you Leslie and Andrew your a credit to the B&B business. :grin

Cycling Hadrian's Wall

We (my colleague and I) made it to Hadrian's Barn after a day of cycling about 35 miles west to east from the Homesteads Fort area on the Wall. The Barn B+B isn't that easy to find from the main road as it hasn't got its own, small, B+B sign yet on the junction with main road and the track up to it (which I think it deserves) but I had got final directions by phoning ahead to Andrew when we reached Heddon-on-the-Wall. Perhaps the Barn B+B web site should include a detailed map as well as contact address? However, the location and layout of the Barn B+B are a gem. Large, self contained (as it's own building), newly built, quiet, spacious, beautifully furnished and beautifully equipped, it was a fantastic location and a great way to end our ride. The overnight rate was similar to other (as just room only) B+Bs we had stayed at along the route of the wall and represented outstanding value for money for the quality of it's accommodation. Andrew and Lesley were excellent hosts. The Swan ...
A stylish start to the week!
Mick

We stayed for one night, the first night of our week walking the Wall. After a trek from Wallsend and a climb into Heddon, a wonderful welcome to our accomodation was topped only by the four bottles of Stella in the fridge! Beautiful decor and furniture, comfy beds, excellent shower room.... it was a shame to have only one night there. A 10 minute walk to one of the local pubs for food and plenty of food for breakfast to set us up following a good night's sleep.... can't reccommend it enough :grin
Fantastic place to stay

May 2010 - We received a very warm welcome and were delighted with the quality of the accomodation. We found a couple of beers in the fridge which were needed after another 8 hours of walking.

Would definately recommend the accomodation to others.

My children bought me a visit here for a treat and it was a delightful break. The accomodation is very private, stylish and confortable and we ate very well. The snow was on the ground but we were cosy warm. Great walks from the doorstep and very handy for getting to Hadrian's Wall path.
Highly recommended.
A very happy start to 2010

We booked Hadrian's Barn over New Year and it was perfect. We arrived on a snowy evening to a very warm welcome. Andrew and Lesley's hospitality and cooking were fantastic. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to friends and family. Thank you.
